"Bush Hates Black People?"
Well, as you have probably heard all over the news, according to Kayne West, Bush hates black people. I understand he has his right to an opinion, but at the same time, that is the kind of racist bull that many African American's complain about every day. If I got on live television and said that Rev. Jesse Jackson hates President George Bush I would be flogged. West, needs to get his facts straight. Bush is not the problem. George Bush is not the only leader involved in the decisions that are being made there in Louisiana, and I KNOW he is not in control of the news media (which is very left winged and liberal, read "The News Twisters" by Edith Efron, who is a liberal) whom Kayne is claiming is showing white people and saying they are looking for food and the African American people are looting and stealing goods. I am not saying that Bush does everything right, I'm just saying don't make this a racial issue. It appears to be a racial issue because there are so many more African American people living in the New Orleans community than there are Caucasian people. Lastly, West, you make a terrible sales person. You're suppose to win your audience over, not tick them off.

Interesting thoughts, Adam. Even looking beyond the political mess of it all, I think we need to be aware of the thing that makes our nation unique - we're a hodge-podge of ethnic groups. I believe that the overwhelming majority of Americans are not racist. Another thing that I have learned through this is that even the most powerful government in the world cannot be trusted in times of peril. The quickest response and most generous help comes from the small groups of everyday people who are simply driven by their compassion. That's the most encouraging idea for me: the people of our country, with their individualism and generosity, still have the ability to transcend the government.
